Beacon Hills AU

WELCOME TO BEACON HILLS

Beacon Hills is a small town in the Northern part of California. It was once a thriving town that has fallen into disrepair. It is also, currently, the scene of a supernatural battle that has only just begun.

This is an AU Beacon Hills set during season 1 at this time. What's the same? Most things in this verse are set in Beacon Hills. All of the events up until the first episode are the same except one thing. It was Laura who was left a charred mess in the basement after trying to save her family, and Peter that took Derek from Beacon Hills before they were found by the hunters.

Now, six years later, things are going dark in the town. Someone has been killing people, and the power of the family is in turmoil.

Laura is pretty much where Peter was. Angry. Violent. Looking to take revenge on those that took her life from her. What do we already know about this verse?

* Peter and Derek were alive when Laura woke up
* Kate still seduced Derek to get the information about the pack
* Laura, in seeking to restart her pack, has bitten both Scott... and Stiles
* Laura is the Hale alpha

Is Peter alive or dead? We don't know. Maybe Laura has been alpha this whole time, alive but unable to act on it. Is Cora in South America? Maybe. This is pretty open right now. If interested, let me know.

"Do you think any of us are given what we want, Laura?" He moved, lifted a hand to her face before letting it drop back to his side.

"It's not fair to any of you, and no I don't want you to lose more family, I didn't fight you when you chose to stay, but I couldn't put my daughter through that life."

He was silent for a moment and then sighed. "...I can bring Kate here, but no more murders and no more wolves."

Derek looked at her, and there was fear in his eyes. If she wanted her brother scared of her, she had accomplished that goal. But he had been with Peter for the last few years, and his cunning side had rubbed off. Derek couldn't leave. He needed to watch her, see what she was doing, and figure out how to fix this before Laura really fell too far that he wouldn't be able to save her.

"Okay."

Scott just nodded, backing away and watching her one last moment before he booked it for where Stiles and the Sheriff were.

A brow arched then, still staring down into her brother's eyes. "Really? Just like that? You'll be mine?" She sounded caught between excited and confused.

Her fingers stroked along his cheek. "I need you, Derek. I need my brother with me. I missed you," she said, voice so soft, eyes bright with tears.

True to her word though, she was there the next day. Perhaps she had been there for hours, watching him to see what he might do. Come practice that afternoon though, she was there, watching, curious to see how he might be doing.

Staying in the shadows of the bleachers, watching the boy curiously.

'This isn't about what we're given. It's about not letting killers go on killing. I would think you would understand that. Isn't that what you do? Protect others from werewolves by killing the ones that would kill? Why would we leave them out their to keep killing?"

She was sounding the most sane she likely had in all of this, but she wasn't bending on her anger and her need for revenge.

"I never blamed you for leaving, Chris. I never would have blamed you for protecting her. Ever. Nor can you blame me for protecting my family, and my pack. Can you blame me for that?"

She arched a brow. "You would hand her over and let me dow what I must? Like that?" She didn't agree to the others. One of them she wasn't ready to agree to.

And well... lacrosse had been very interesting. Mostly because he suddenly knew how to aim and um, sorry Danny? He hadn't meant to hurt you that much.

He had gone to shower in the locker room, taking deep breaths to calm down. His heart was racing and it was pounding in his ears and it was just freaking him out more.

Oh no. He'd thought they'd mostly gotten away with last night, well he'd thought Scott had gotten away at least.

He was pretty sure that his dad wasn't serious about putting him under actual house arrest.

"How freaky is freaky?"

Well that's also good to know. He'll have to be a much better liar from now on, he can tell. Maybe if it's something he can convince himself he actually believes, then she won't be able to hear the lie in his words. Is that how it works?

"Maybe I don't want it from you? Did you think of that? And you keep telling me I wouldn't be mindless, but if you're the alpha then I'll have to do what you say right? What if I don't want to?"

"Like, strange woman in the forest bit me freaky." He's obviously not okay with this.

He nods, because he hopes that he knows what he's doing. Someone has to watch over her to make sure she doesn't get these betas she's turned killed.

"I missed you too. Every day."

"I'll bring her to town. What happens after that? I'm not going to get in the middle of as long as you stop hunting her tools." Chris kept his voice even, his gaze on the woman a step above him.

"And I don't blame you for wanting revenge, for wanting to protect what you have left, but this needs to be done more carefully if you're going to do it at all.

There are alternatives to killing the people my sister used as tools."

It was a sight to see, she had to admit. A new wolf, strong and aggressive, showing the power that she had given him. Of course, it would mean little if he wasn't willing to use it.

Waiting as others straggled out of the locker room, she slipped inside with a smile for a kid that spent the entire time on the bench. Definitely not someone she would pick, even now, and headed to where she could hear Scott breathing.

She paused just outside the showers.

"Find a focus, Scott," she called, hearing that racing heart. "Stop thinking about all you can hear, all you can smell. Focus on one thing."

"I considered it. Then I thought about all you would gain, and how smart you are, and I couldn't help but wonder why you would turn this down," she admitted, folding her arms over her chest and giving him a smile.

"Yes, I would be alpha. Yes, there is a heirarchy. No I can't control you like a meat puppet without putting my hand up your ass. Do you see me doing that to Scott?"

"He kept you away, I bet," she said, sounding hurt and pained. "Damned ego of his. You aren't like him though, are you?"

Even though she knew he had been. Derek had been a lot like Peter back then. She needed him to be with her, not against her. Family again.

"I'm sorry I hurt you," she said, leaning down to kiss his brow. "I just... It hurt so much, Derek. All that time alone and then thinking you would leave again. I can't live with that," she said, binding him as deeply as she could with her words.

She considered that, watching him closely. She believed him. For what he said and was offering, she did believe him.

"And what about those tools when they come here to avenge her? Am I too stay tied by my affection for you then?" Which was admitting more than she had meant to, that she still did care about him.

"What alternatives? They won't answer to the law. You and I both know that.'

"They killed humans, not just wolves and you were there. They're not hunters, Laura, that much I can almost guarantee because that's not how we hunt. I won't say the hunters haven't crossed lines before, but that attack is different."

Sloppier for one thing.

"Protecting yourself is different from murder. I doubt they even knew the targets weren't human, which doesn't excuse what happened, but with the right approach, they'd probably confess to the fire.

And Kate is on her own."

"What? Let me see." Stiles is reaching out to tug Scott's shirt out of the way. "Which side?"

Because Stiles wants to see the bite first and then maybe go get Scott tested for rabies and maybe some other stuff. "Did she say anything or was it just biting and then leaving you?"

"Oh my god Stiles, dude!" He tries to slap his best friend's hands away from stripping him. But Stiles would find the large bandage on Scott's ribs that had some dried blood seeped into it.

"Yeah, but she was talking all weird like. And she didn't like answering questions."

"Literally up my ass?" Because priorities, he has them. "And all I know is that he's been a little different lately but still there's too many unanswered questions. What else changes when you bite someone? What are the dangers? If it's such a great gig, why are you asking me and not half the lacrosse team?"

Because while yes, he does want to be a superhero. He also knows that there are consequences to the whole superhero gig and part of that is the danger to the families of superheros. And that's a deal breaker. He can't have his dad getting into this. Getting hurt or killed because of this.

Ppffst, Scotty, it's like you don't remember all the summer camps and mud wrestling and jello fights! Stiles is sad for you.

"That's a big bandage, did you tell your mom? Did you bring fresh stuff for the bandage and clean it out and stuff?" Stiles has a first aid kit in the bottom of his backpack, he can sort that out for you.

"How weird is weird, dude? And have you seen her since?"

Derek wasn't sure how to answer that because in some ways, he was very much like Peter. But not completely. The differences were hidden still deep inside where he couldn't let himself get hurt again. And he had a feeling this was going to lead to him being hurt, so he would be careful showing it. Cautious. Calculating. how to wear a smile and say the right things while taking in the world around him to figure out his advantage if things went south.

He just shook his head. This was his best move - for now. So he would stay. Only speak the truth so she wouldn't hear his heart jump, and figure out how to keep Laura from burning out and try to find the sister he remembered somewhere inside of her.

"I'm here now."

"They present themselves as hunters," she corrected, giving him a look. "Just like your sister does. You can't pretend as if they're the exception as not the rule, Chris. Let's be honest. That is you, not them," she pointed out, wanting him to see that truth. He needed to realize what so many wolves went through and what they lost for nothing more than being different.

"I don't want them to confess. They killed people and did it cheerfully," she said, staring at him. "Chris, you are the exception and you are trying to play as if the world plays by your rules. I thought that way too, but that isn't what happens, it isn't how the world is."

"Not my kinks, Stiles. Not my kinks at all," she said, giving him a look. "As for why you and not them, most of them are annoying. I didn't like that type when my uncle and brother were one of them on the basketball team and my dislike hasn't improved ovedr the years," she said, being fairly honest.

"It raises your aggression until you get control. It also lends you a lot of things, like speed and strength, heightened senses. Beyond the bite itself and healing from it, there are very few dangers that don't come from hunters like those that killed my family. You've been here a while, haven't you? You remember the fire?"

She remembered his dad from those days, so he might remember some of it.

"It makes you stronger, faster. It lets you sense those around you, hear lies, know what is going on and gives you the means to stop it."
