WELCOME TO BEACON HILLS

Beacon Hills is a small town in the Northern part of California. It was once a thriving town that has fallen into disrepair. It is also, currently, the scene of a supernatural battle that has only just begun.

This is an AU Beacon Hills set during season 1 at this time. What's the same? Most things in this verse are set in Beacon Hills. All of the events up until the first episode are the same except one thing. It was Laura who was left a charred mess in the basement after trying to save her family, and Peter that took Derek from Beacon Hills before they were found by the hunters.

Now, six years later, things are going dark in the town. Someone has been killing people, and the power of the family is in turmoil.

Laura is pretty much where Peter was. Angry. Violent. Looking to take revenge on those that took her life from her. What do we already know about this verse?

* Peter and Derek were alive when Laura woke up
* Kate still seduced Derek to get the information about the pack
* Laura, in seeking to restart her pack, has bitten both Scott... and Stiles
* Laura is the Hale alpha

Is Peter alive or dead? We don't know. Maybe Laura has been alpha this whole time, alive but unable to act on it. Is Cora in South America? Maybe. This is pretty open right now. If interested, let me know.

"It's been six years, Derek. Six years I was left in a bed. Healing myself one bit at a time, one cell at a time. Constantly working against the burns, against the pain. And through it all, I listened to the screams in my head. I listened to your tiny niece beg me to save her. I begged whoever was outside that window to let them out. I told them I would take the fire, if they would save the children. Do you know what I heard, Derek? Laughter. They laughed. I can not let them do this to others, Derek."

Her eyes narrowed. "You turned your back on me, Derek. He hasn't been your guardian for yours. You said it. Three years on your own and you left me. You will not leave now," she growled, eyes glowing red. "You'll be my beta, Derek, as you are. You'll help me train Scott and Stiles. We will find the hunter behind it. All of them."

Scott and Stiles? Who the... oh crap she made more betas. That was what she was talking about earlier. No, no this wasn't good at all and he took a step back, his eyes flashing blue in response to her red ones.

Did she know about his eyes? Only Peter and his mother knew as far as Derek was aware, but if Talia had told Laura, he wouldn't be surprised.

"You need help, Laura. Not this. Killing them is only going to bring more and we'll always be fighting. I'm not going to be a part of that."

That return flash made her tsk, shaking her head. "Honestly, Derek. Your self righteousness is displaced all things considered. Motives mean so much and mine are about protecting others. What were yours," she taunted, moving suddenly until she was standing toe to toe with him.

"No, we won't be. We will prove that trying to take us on is futile. They caught us unaware once. That will not happen again,' she snarled, shoving him back against the door. "Never. Again."

Yeah, that was fear in his eyes, but he didn't cower. "I did it out of love to end her suffering," he replied. "And no, this will start a war. You know that."

"And I'm doing this out of love. Even for a family that deserted me," she said, snarling as she leaned in closer. "I know that you will never understand but you will remember what it means to be a Hale."

"I remember just fine. You're the one whose forgotten."

"New Alpha, new rules, Derek. We lived in peace, and people died. I won't spend my life running and neither will my pack. You included. You deserve a home and a life, Derek and that is what you will have."

Her hands gripped the front of his shirt."You turned your back on your family once, Derek. Don't make me feel angry rather than sad for you if you try and do it again."

"I have a life, Laura. A good life. You do this, you ruin that."

He stayed still, hoping to find a way to reason with her. "what are you going to do, Laura? Kill me if I try to leave? You need help. Let me find it for you."

"No, I give you back your family and pack. That was what we were meant to have, Derek, and you playing at normal doesn't make you one of them. It never will."

She rolled her eyes. "I need my pack. That's all the help I need. You get hurt in this, and it's on you. All on you, Derek. You disobeying your alpha. I'm being kind. Don't make me actually treat you like the misbehaving beta you are."

This was going to hurt, and he knew it. But he shook his head.

"I'm not your beta, Laura. And you hurting me isn't going to change that. I'm not going to kill for you."

"I never asked you to kill, Derek," she said, shaking her head. Then she back handed him as hard as she could. "I asked you to take your place as beta. Why would I trust you when you were never there for me?"

His head snapped to the side with the slap, and there was a snarl as he turned back slowly to look at her. "I'm not an idiot, Laura. I can read a newspaper. And I'm not going to have any part in that."

This would be around the time he pushed her back and away from him, moving away so that he wasn't backed against the wall, relaxing his pose.

He may have been away from Peter for three years while in college, but the three before that had been spent preparing Derek for the world and how to fight.

"I've always been there for you. You are my sister, and I love you, but this isn't you, Laura, and I'm not going to let you ruin what's left of this family."

"You are part of it. Just like we all were. You can not just bury your head in the sand and pretend your family wasn't murdered. You were raised to be more of a man than that," she said, stumbling back but staying on her feet.

Then she laughed at him. "You lie. Just to me or to yourself? You were never there for me. You left me to rot in a bed. Were you hoping I'd die and peter would become alpha?" She paused, arching a brow. "Or is he already dead and you're here to become alpha yourself?"

"So what, the seventeen years before don't matter at all?" He kept his distance, watching her carefully and no answering the next part.

"And I don't pretend. I remember what I lost every day. But Mom didn't raise me look for revenge. She taught me to think about my actions and what it would do in the long run."

"Apparently not," she said, staring at him seriously suddenly, all humor gone from her face. "Not if you plan to desert me and your pack family just like that," she said with a snap of her fingers. "Which apparently pack means nothing compared to what? College? Some cute coed? Is that it?"

She sounded hurt, pained as she snorted. "Guess I shouldn't have expected much more, huh? I'm only your sister and your alpha and what remains of your family. What is that compared to college girls in shorts on birth control," she snarled, rolling her eyes. "Family's nothing, right?"

Again that stare. "Your actions, in inaction, will mean that more families die. That doesn't matter though, right?"

There is a dark growl there, because sorry, sister, your brother's got relationship issues and the coeds are very upset that he is very much into his books and not their breasts.

"So what, you run around making new wolves and want me to just slide back in and act like this is normal. Blackmail me and use words like family and pack because you're not getting what you want? You make all these assumptions about me, but face it, Laura, you don't know me as well as you think, and don't try to pretend you do."

"I want you to help me rebuild," she said, dark eyes narrowed, staring at him as she folded her arms over her chest. "I'm using the truth, but I can see where you don't want to face your truth, Derek. You know the one I'm talking about, right?"

She moved a step closer to him. "The one where you deserted me to die. I checked the books. Did you even consider coming back or just kiss me goodbye and sail off to college to enjoy yourself? How long before you ditched Peter?"

She paused, arching a brow. "Is he even alive, Derek? Or did you see him dead as well? I mean, you say I don't know you and you're right. Because you abandoned me. You abandoned your family and your pack and you want me to give you my blessing to just run off and pretend you're not a Hale? Do you even still have our name, or did you get rid of that too?"

Yeah, that pretty much pushed Derek's anger over the control level, and he's going to snarl and jump at his sister, claws out and pissed off puppy planning on making a point.

Yep, that was the level she wanted. She wanted him pushed, to let it out. She wanted to see the man he was and the one he could be.

The claws caught her in the shoulder, and she snarled. Even as she grabbed him by the shirt, spinning and throwing him hard against the wall. She moved in instantly, pouncing on him and aiming a fist for his throat. It wouldn't kill him but it would damn well slow him down.

"You denied me," she growled, voice low and her eyes blazing red.

Derek gasped, trying to talk but all he managed to do was cough. "Protecting... you." He got out in strangled coughs.

She snorted, eyes narrowing. One hand came down on his throat, using it to hold him as her claws curled against his skin. Not even holding back on the punch she aimed at his jaw.

"Protecting me from what? Being loved? Being shown I still had a pack? What did leaving me to listen to their screams day in and day out do, Derek? What would it do to you?" She demanded to know, hitting him again. "Now, imagine me doing this for the next six years, Derek. Torturing you every day, because it's what you did to me!"

"From... from hunters." He felt blood on his mouth with each punch, and he kept trying to get free but her grip was too strong. "If we stayed... came back... they would kill you. You were a sitting duck..."

Keeping her hand on his throat, she leaned in closer, staring at him with puppy dog eyes. Her fingers brushed the corner of his mouth, smearing the blood on his skin.

"Derek, I don't want to hurt you," she whispered, even with the way she was holding him. "I need you. Please. Please, don't leave me again. We need you, Derek. I need you," she whispered, eyes bright and her lashes damp. "I need my brother, my beta."

Derek looked at her, and there was fear in his eyes. If she wanted her brother scared of her, she had accomplished that goal. But he had been with Peter for the last few years, and his cunning side had rubbed off. Derek couldn't leave. He needed to watch her, see what she was doing, and figure out how to fix this before Laura really fell too far that he wouldn't be able to save her.

"Okay."

A brow arched then, still staring down into her brother's eyes. "Really? Just like that? You'll be mine?" She sounded caught between excited and confused.

Her fingers stroked along his cheek. "I need you, Derek. I need my brother with me. I missed you," she said, voice so soft, eyes bright with tears.
