Beacon Hills is a small town in the Northern part of California. It was once a thriving town that has fallen into disrepair. It is also, currently, the scene of a supernatural battle that has only just begun.
This is an AU Beacon Hills set during season 1 at this time. What's the same? Most things in this verse are set in Beacon Hills. All of the events up until the first episode are the same except one thing. It was Laura who was left a charred mess in the basement after trying to save her family, and Peter that took Derek from Beacon Hills before they were found by the hunters.
Now, six years later, things are going dark in the town. Someone has been killing people, and the power of the family is in turmoil.
***
Laura is pretty much where Peter was. Angry. Violent. Looking to take revenge on those that took her life from her. What do we already know about this verse?
* Peter and Derek were alive when Laura woke up
* Kate still seduced Derek to get the information about the pack
* Laura, in seeking to restart her pack, has bitten both Scott... and Stiles
* Laura is the Hale alpha
Is Peter alive or dead? We don't know. Maybe Laura has been alpha this whole time, alive but unable to act on it. Is Cora in South America? Maybe. This is pretty open right now. If interested, let me know.
Taken Characters:
* Laura Hale
* Scott McCall
* Stiles Stilinski
* Derek Hale
* Chris Argent

And hearing her speak, the details of that night, had him silent.
"Laura..." He'd wanted it to be one of the other alphas, not a Hale, not this. Even if it was justifiable murder, it was still taking lives and that burden was one he'd never wanted her to have to bear.
"I meant....a non Hale Alpha." Not that it would make this any better, but easier? Definitely
Simpler for him.
The fact it was Laura though, that was going to make this difficult.
"They gave me time to look into it before they send reinforcements. If my sister comes here..." Chris didn't finish, didn't need to.
Kate had taken over after he'd left. Taken over leadership, just taken over and Chris had kept his distance, but the idea that it could be Laura?
It had pulled him right back in.
She had drawn him back in.

They both knew. He'd known when he came. Which made her wonder why he had come at all.
Was he looking to try and stop her? Bury her, literally? She wasn't sure she bring herself to ask.
Yet she snorted at that.
"Chris, I've been investigating this for months. Who do you think is the number one name at the top of my list?" she asked, arching a brow at him. "Who do you think everyone I asked named that they thought would have been behind the fire? Top name? Kate Argent. Second name? Want to guess who it was, Chris?"
She could imagine he knew it was his father.
"They came here, with several hunters, and they murdered my family. They covered it up. How many other wolves do you think are out there, dying, because no one did anything after they slaughtered the Hale pack?"
She was fighting to not give in, to throw herself in his arms and just make the world stop for five minutes. Just five minutes to feel as happy as she had with him. Yet all of that was gone, and the girl he'd known was dead and gone with it.
"I should let them keep murdering people because we're not like them? I don't think I can do that, Chris."

Date: 2015-03-28 11:13 pm (UTC)"Drawing my sister back to town isn't going to solve anything, Laura. You know that as well as I do." Whether Kate had orchestrated the fire or not, and it wasn't unlikely that she would have, it would only end up with more deaths.
"She dies, my father comes to call. And then what? There's not going to be any end because there will always be someone who wants revenge. That's why I took Allison away instead of going after Victoria's killer.
Is this really the future you want?"

Date: 2015-03-29 05:34 am (UTC)"I know that I can't let this happen to other families. I can't let my family be forgotten and dismissed with lies."
For a long time she just stared at him, not even sure how to tell him this, what to say to him. She wanted to say a million things, and nothing she could tell him would give him what he wanted.
"And if I had left, there would be another of my family dead. It would have been Peter down there, or Derek. Would that make it better? Would you ignore the town now if I was with you in New York?"
She laughed, the sound bitter. "What I want? I wasn't given that choice, Chris. All I was given was death and pain and years of healing myself one cell at a time. My family needs me. My pack needs me, Chris. I have to make this a world they can live in, without my family's killer hunting them down as well."

Date: 2015-03-29 05:53 am (UTC)"It's not fair to any of you, and no I don't want you to lose more family, I didn't fight you when you chose to stay, but I couldn't put my daughter through that life."
He was silent for a moment and then sighed. "...I can bring Kate here, but no more murders and no more wolves."

Date: 2015-03-31 12:16 am (UTC)She was sounding the most sane she likely had in all of this, but she wasn't bending on her anger and her need for revenge.
"I never blamed you for leaving, Chris. I never would have blamed you for protecting her. Ever. Nor can you blame me for protecting my family, and my pack. Can you blame me for that?"
She arched a brow. "You would hand her over and let me dow what I must? Like that?" She didn't agree to the others. One of them she wasn't ready to agree to.

Date: 2015-04-01 07:10 pm (UTC)"And I don't blame you for wanting revenge, for wanting to protect what you have left, but this needs to be done more carefully if you're going to do it at all.
There are alternatives to killing the people my sister used as tools."
no subject
Date: 2015-04-01 10:07 pm (UTC)"And what about those tools when they come here to avenge her? Am I too stay tied by my affection for you then?" Which was admitting more than she had meant to, that she still did care about him.
"What alternatives? They won't answer to the law. You and I both know that.'

Date: 2015-04-01 10:26 pm (UTC)Sloppier for one thing.
"Protecting yourself is different from murder. I doubt they even knew the targets weren't human, which doesn't excuse what happened, but with the right approach, they'd probably confess to the fire.
And Kate is on her own."

Date: 2015-04-03 10:29 pm (UTC)"I don't want them to confess. They killed people and did it cheerfully," she said, staring at him. "Chris, you are the exception and you are trying to play as if the world plays by your rules. I thought that way too, but that isn't what happens, it isn't how the world is."
no subject
Date: 2015-04-05 05:03 am (UTC)And after Victoria died..." He rubbed a hand over his eyes before dropping his hands back to his side.
"We're not going to agree on this even if I understand why you're doing it and I don't want to end up hunting you, Laura, I really don't.
But if you keep killing humans who aren't involved in this world, even if they helped my sister one time, I'm going to have to step in. Kate can handle herself, and hunters know the risks. I know the risks of taking on your kind, especially an alpha." quietly.
"For now though, let's stop arguing. This is getting us nowhere."
no subject
Date: 2015-04-06 09:39 pm (UTC)It was painful, but she couldn't deny her was right. "No, we aren't, and you don't want to make that mistake either, Chris." Because hunting her where her mind and heart were was a deadly proposition.
Her gaze was steady, just watching him. "You aren't the law, Chris, and you didn't step in while they were killers. Why is someone stopping them, making them pay so bad but their crimes were ignored?"
She wasn't arguining, not in her mind. She was speaking the truth.

Date: 2015-04-07 01:41 am (UTC)Who would have listened to me, and you know crimes can't be prosecuted without an admission of guilt or proof. The guy who's sheriff now? He's not the same one who was in office when the fire happened.
So find your proof and take it to him. Leave Kate out of it if you want since she was the mastermind.
She knows what she's up against."

Date: 2015-04-07 10:30 pm (UTC)"They all knew, Chris. They knew and they know. Now they know the result of murder. It comes back to you,' she said. "And I won't leave my town and my pack weak again. I was blind before. My mother was blind. We thought we could actually live in peace and be left alone. I know better now."
She suddenly smiled. "But hey, you said you didn't want to deal with the reality of it all, right? You came back here to kill an alpha and now you're unsure so, what should we talk about? How's Allison? She's doing well?"
no subject
Date: 2015-04-08 12:16 am (UTC)This fell into that. He couldn't blame her for her actions, for the revenge she felt she needed, given the cause of it and he rubbed a hand over his eyes.
"I'm here to investigate, not hunt. I gave that up, remember. And I didn't forget the fire, Laura. I visited you...every chance I got. It was a tragedy, a loss of life that never should have happened.
Maybe if I'd stayed, I could have stopped it, figured something out, I don't know, but I can't agree with your choices either.
I will at least not interfere." quietly. "That much I can do. I can look into it and let things proceed as they will. Nobody has any idea who's behind this, yet.
As for Allison, she's fine. She's living in New York, taking college classes. I don't think she's picked a major yet."

Date: 2015-04-08 08:37 pm (UTC)"What did you expect to find then, Chris? A killer alpha and you were going to walk away?" She wanted to know what was going on, what he was going to do. She needed to know, for her sake and the sake of her pack.
"I remember you there. Once. Before that I didn't have a lot of memories, but I read the books. I know who came... and who didn't." And he had been there. Often. "I do... I'm glad you came, Chris. You're the only one that did," she admitted, knowing what that might say to him, to someone that knew a pack and how it should work. "Though, I'm not asking for you to agree. I'm doing what I need to, Chris."
She smiled then, true and honest. "I'm glad for her. She's so amazing. She always was."
